Since it’s inception in 2009, the DAXKO Foundation has been involved in several community service projects, including a playground renovation and after-school tutoring program at the local YMCA. While those projects continue, this year, the Foundation is rolling out something new – Impact Day 2010. It’s a day where DAXKO team members get out of the office and into the community to spend time volunteering and team building. Here’s how it works…
Team members have 3 service projects from which to choose. They’ll spend the entire day getting their hands (and likely their clothes) dirty working with either:
- Greater Birmingham Humane Society – Here, team members will help restore (read weed-whack, dig, clear brush, and haul dirt) the outdoor dog walking trail for Fido and his four-legged friends.
- Habitat for Humanity of Greater Birmingham – Folks are sure to get a few calluses (and splinters) as they help to build and raise walls and set trusses in the growing Wylam Oaks community.
- Young Women’s Christian Association - We’ll be tacking the YWCA’s computer lab to inventory, organize, and test all their equipment. Once we’re through, they’ll have an improved and much more functional work space for members and visitors.
Stay tuned for a recap and photos from Impact Day 2010!
